Boiled Peanuts and Baseball

 Boiled Peanuts

Well It’s baseball time around here and my family Loves boiled peanuts!

Boiled is the way we like them in South Carolina!

The town we live in you can find boiled peanuts from road side vendors on the weekends.

But since our son’s baseball games are during the week we started making our own.

It is so simple and I wanted to share them with you today.

I am sure there are many ways to make them…this is just what works for me.

What you will need: Green peanuts (raw peanuts), Salt and a Crock Pot.

Put your peanuts into the crock pot and fill it with water.  Then add about 1/4 – 1/2 cup of salt.

Turn crock pot to high temperature setting.

From this point all you will need to do is press the ones that keep floating to the top to the bottom.  It takes about 8 hours.  I cook mine on my back porch so my entire house doesn’t smell like them!

When they are done they should feel soft but not mushy

….and that is it!

Peanuts

You can save them in the refrigerator until you are ready to eat them.  We like them hot so we reheat in the microwave for about 1 minute.

Enjoy!
